About Us

The Salvation Army has been working with individuals involved in the justice system in Ontario for many decades. The Correctional and Justice Services department of the Salvation Army delivers a variety programs and services for youth and adults who have come into conflict with the law.

Community Justice Programs are offered which target problem areas leading to criminal involvement: anger management, anger management intensive, anger management (women only), anger and relationships (men only), theft intervention, alcohol and drug awareness, positive parenting, and road rage.

Participants are referred from a variety of sources including: Probation Officers, Defense Counsel, The Provincial Courts, Metro Toronto Police Service, The Parole Board of Canada, and Correctional Services Canada.

Our department has chaplains working in many courts and detention centres in Toronto, north to Barrie and Muskoka, Lindsay and east to the Kingston area. We operate two open custody detention facilities for youth, as well as a pre-charge diversion program for young people ages 12 to 17 years old.

In addition, a total of eighty-seven half-way house beds are provided for men on conditional release from Federal correctional institutions.
