Supporting Our Community

Community Council on Correctional and Justice Services

The Council works with the Executive Director and staff to ensure that programs and projects are grounded and linked to the broader community and in particular the justice system. The Council is chaired by one of the community members on a rotating basis. Representation on the Council comes from a variety of backgrounds including the Toronto Police Service, the judiciary, court administration, banking, business and community justice.

The Council meets bi-monthly. The agenda typically includes staff updates on various programs, new initiatives and trends, and government policies and legislation. Discussions occur regarding the impact these developments might have on Salvation Army operations and the communities they serve. New opportunities to better serve the community are also discussed. The collective knowledge and experience of the Council members ensures informed decision making and provides valuable public perspective on issues of concern.
