The Correctional & Justice Services Unit operates a number of programs funded through the Salvation Army's own resources or by way of either Provincial or Federal government departments. Some programs are funded through modest client user fees. The majority of participants in these programs are required to attend and participate as a conditional of a court sentence or disposition. Programs are listed below.

Anger Management: One Day
This is a one-day workshop for adults to raise awareness of the triggers and thinking patterns that can lead to aggressive behaviour. Using a cognitive approach it seeks to identify & replace problematic thinking and behaviour. The program is interactive and requires active participation. Research indicates that changing irrational thinking is the most effective way to reduce anger and change aggressive behaviour. Therefore we offer a supportive and challenging environment in which to help you make changes to thinking and behaviour.

Who is welcome to attend?
Anyone age 18 years and older desiring a positive life change is welcome. Referrals may come from court, lawyers, crown attorneys, probation, parole, community justice worker, social workers, mental health workers or be self-referred.

Program Highlights:
* 7 hours of instruction in a one day group session.
* Confidential & non-judgemental atmosphere.
* Saturdays 9:00 - 4:00 p.m. (as scheduled)
* Registration cost is $150.00. We accept cash or money order.

Theft Intervention (T.I.P.):
This program is suitable for people dealing with shoplifting, theft or fraud problems, legal or otherwise. This is a one day program for adults to raise awareness of the emotional triggers and thinking patterns that can lead to offending behaviour. It focuses on the belief that a change in thinking will result in a change in behaviour.  This group program is presented in an interactive manner, and offers a supportive and challenging environment in which to make changes to thinking and behaviour.

Program Structure:
Each participant is expected to attend the full session, participate actively and complete practise assignments.  Upon successful completion participants will receive a certificate.

* 7 hours of instruction in a one day workshop.

Alcohol & Drug Awareness (A.D.A.P.): Substance Abuse Program
This program is suitable for adults dealing with substance abuse issues that have led to negative consequences, including conflict with the law. This is an educational program that centres on the damaging effects of alcohol and drugs. The program is delivered in two sessions over a two week period. This group program is presented in an interactive manner, and offers a supportive environment in which to make changes to thinking and behaviour.

Program Structure:
Each participant is expected to attend the full 2 sessions. Each session is 3 hours in length. Workbooks will be provided and participants will be expected to complete practice assignments.

Program Highlights:
* 6 hours of instruction in a 2 session workshop.
* Confidential and non-judgemental atmosphere.
* Registration cost is $80.00. We accept cash or money order.
